Energy Transition
SNOC’s Energy Transition Business Unit is shaping a sustainable future by advancing projects that reduce emissions and diversify Sharjah’s energy mix. Our initiatives include the development of solar power generation at the Sajaa Plant (“Sana”), studies on hydrogen, geothermal energy potential, and advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions. By integrating renewable energy and innovative low-carbon technologies, the unit supports Sharjah’s ambition Net-Zero journey. With a forward-looking strategy, Energy Transition ensures that SNOC continues to deliver value today while preparing responsibly for the energy systems of tomorrow.
“Sana” Our Solar PV plant
Our ‘Sana’ solar PV project is one of the world’s first large-scale oil and gas processing facilities to meet its own electrical needs using on-site, utility-scale solar generation. As Sharjah’s first large-scale solar initiative, Sana delivers 60MW of clean energy, integrating intelligent monitoring to optimize performance and reduce emissions.
This groundbreaking project exemplifies innovation, sustainability, and alignment with the UAE’s clean energy goals and postions SNOC as a global pioneer in solar power.
Our Carbon Capture Storage (CCS)
SNOC is advancing its sustainability goals through CCS research, supporting Sharjah’s energy resilience and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy. As part of our pledge to achieve Net Zero, CCS complements our renewables and underground gas storage efforts to reduce emissions and secure supply.
