Upstream
SNOC’s Upstream Business Unit explores, develops, and produces hydrocarbons, sustaining production from Sharjah’s existing fields while pursuing new opportunities onshore and offshore. Exploration extends beyond Sharjah into the wider UAE and international markets, reflecting SNOC’s ambition to expand its portfolio and secure future resources. By combining technical expertise, strong partnerships, and responsible practices, our Upstream business delivers reliable supply today while building the foundation for long-term growth and energy security.
LEGACY FIELDS
The Sajaa and Kahaif fields, discovered in the 1980s, remain cornerstone brownfield assets within SNOC’s upstream portfolio, having achieved globally unmatched hydrocarbon recovery. Their potential repurposing for carbon capture and storage, geothermal energy, and other low-carbon applications is under evaluation, with initial findings underscoring their role in advancing Sharjah’s decarbonisation objectives.
MOVEYEID FIELD
Discovered in early 1980s, Moveyeid has been transformed by SNOC from a mature producer into a strategic gas storage hub, enhancing Sharjah’s energy security. It manages seasonal and daily swing in gas demand while supporting the Emirate’s clean energy targets. A comprehensive well enhancement (UBCTD) program expanded capacity with further upgrades planned to meet the Nation’s growing energy needs.
NEW FIELDS
After nearly four decades, SNOC discovered two new onshore fields — Mahani in 2020 with partner Eni, and Hedebah in 2024 independently. Both are advancing through their respective development phases, aimed at optimizing production and maximizing long-term value for Sharjah’s energy portfolio. Together, these fields enhance energy security and ensure a steady supply of gas and condensate to Sharjah.
